Hi, I'm Mary DelahuntyI live in Elsternwick with my husband, Christian and our young family. It is a great place to live and raise a family, but it could be even better.
I have recently been elected as a Councillor for the City of Glen Eira. Over the next four years I will work hard to preserve the beauty of Glen Eira, to increase the livability of our wonderful suburbs and to be accessible to you - my friends and neighbours.
I will use this webpage to keep you updated with issues of relevance along with my social network pages.
I look forward to meeting more Glen Eira Residents and working together to make our city among Melbourne's most livable.
Here is my youngest Daughter Maggie and I having a cuddle in the back yard - the gardening has suffered from lack of attention during the campaign!

About MeAs my husband and I raise our family in the City of Glen Eira we become increasingly aware of our roles as guardians of this great community. It is with this sense of responsibility that I seek election in October.
Community life is very important to me, and I am active as a parent in local schools and kindergartens.
Supporting the local neighbourhood is essential and a way of life for our family. You will see me shopping locally, dining locally and drinking far too many coffees at our wonderful local cafes! These activities provide great opportunities to engage with local traders and to understand the needs of Glen Eira. |
I have spent most of my career in financial services, most recently I have worked with Industry Super Funds to ensure everyday Australians are educated about their super and are given every chance to live a comfortable retirement. I am passionate about the power of financial advice and have worked to end the commission structure which can be so devastating to Australians' savings.
For the past two years I have also had the great pleasure of using my financial and strategic skills as a Board Member of Reclink Australia. I have been Chair of this business for the past 12 months. Reclink Australia is a National Not-For-Profit organisation offering sports and arts opportunities to those experiencing disadvantage. Through regular participation in group activities we have helped many thousands of Australians regain a feeling of worth and begin a pathway to social inclusion.
On the weekend, my girls and I enjoy nothing more than watching our beloved St Kilda Football team play. Perhaps in their lifetime we will see a premiership flag or two! I also play and umpire netball and love a hit of tennis.
In both my working life and my personal life I have had exposure to many levels of Government, I have always believed that Local Government has an incredibly important role to play in the livability of a city. To be effective, local government must be transparent in processes, accessible to the people and have a clear strategic vision developed through consultation.
My background in finance and social inclusion programs adds to the strength of the Council. My understanding of Government ensures the people of Glen Eira are heard. My commitment to this community through my family means I will always have the needs of the next generation in mind.
I am a voice of progress on your local Council |
